About dellsTV.com Born out of a sense of community, DellsTV.com was launched in August of 2009. The need for a media provider like DellsTV.com came about in the fall of 2008 when the local hometown radio station dropped their long-time coverage of Wisconsin Dells High School football just prior to the season opener.
With the nation's economic downturn following and hitting media advertising revenues hard, DellsTV.com was launched prior to the 2009 high school football season to give these hard working young athletes the media coverage they deserved, especially from a local source who would not put dollars ahead of community.
DellsTV.com then proceeded with our plans for the 2009-2010 school year that included a video coverage package of 36 high school events.
Included in the 2009-2010 Chiefs' initial video package was: nine football games, 10 boys basketball games, 10 girls basketball games, and seven additional events (such as wrestling, volleyball, soccer, and hockey).
These events featured both a play-by-play call and complete game video.
In addition other Wisconsin Dells High School athletic events were taped without a play-by-play call (such as JV games) and made available FREE online through DellsTV.com
By the end of the winter sports season, despite Mother Nature and a swine flu scare, DellsTV.com placed well over 36 athletic events onto the Internet for FREE online viewing. Random checks throughout DellsTV.com's first year online showed visits and page views from states across the country.
Visits from other countries included our Canadian neighbor to the north and countries not so close like Brazil and Norway.
In addition to being popular with military ISPs, DellsTV.com had a regular stream of visits from colleges throughout the Midwest. Following the end of the 2009 football season, the list of colleges viewing our football videos included nearly every D2 school in Minnesota as well as schools from Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and of course Wisconsin.
DellsTV.com even received direct requests for football film from one Midwest college football coach.
High school ISPs also proved how popular DellsTV.com was throughout the area, as schools both within the South Central Conference and outside the SCC watched plenty of our boys and girls basketball videos. About the only league school not visiting DellsTV.com during the 2009-2010 school year was the Wisconsin Dells High School where DellsTV.com was reportedly blocked.
Coming up for 2010-11
For the 2010-2011 season, DellsTV.com will continue to offer FREE online coverage of high school events, but we will not solicit local advertising for inclusion in our upcoming season broadcasts. That includes not renewing advertising contracts with many local advertisers that were thrilled with our rates, our viewership, and our coverage.
DellsTV.com was never about advertising revenue. It was about offering the media coverage that area high school athletes deserve. For 2010-2011 DellsTV.com will continue to cover prep sports.
For the 2010-2011 school year, DellsTV.com will aim to provide FREE online coverage of the area's best high school athletic events, be it in the South Central Conference, the Scenic Bluffs Conference, or the Badger North Conference. Whenever possible DellsTV.com will try to provide FREE online coverage of area high school athletes as they compete against other area teams.
In addition to the videos placed here on DellsTV.com, we also place shorter clips and highlights onto the DellsTV.com and the wdfootball.com You Tube Channels. During the spring of 2010 we placed hundreds of track and field photos onto our DellsTV.com Facebook page while we placed videos and slideshows from these track meets onto our You Tube channel.
With the bulk of our fall sports coverage aimed at football, check the wdfootball.com You Tube channel for football clips from area high school, college, and semi-pro football. For the winter of 2010-11 look for expanded hockey coverage and videos as DellsTV.com will be working with the Dells-Reedsburg Blue Line Club to follow RWD high school hockey. Our hockey clips will be uploaded to our DellsTV.com You Tube channel.
To everyone who enjoys our coverage, our websites, our photos, and our videos - We Thank You. Having already topped 199,024 page (video) views since first launching wdfootball.com and DellsTV.com we certainly appreciate and value your continued support. We wish we could do more!
